An online show is quietly radicalizing young men

Salon investigates the "Whatever" podcast

Brian Atlas wants you to hate women

Exciting news! I’ve been working for months on an investigative report into the “Whatever” podcast. Most people over 30 haven’t heard of it, but it’s absolutely ubiquitious in some social media feeds. It’s also incredibly dangerous, as the host, Brian Atlas, peddles gutter misogyny to millions of viewers, especially young boys.

You can read the article at Salon, but we also filmed a companion video. It’s worth watching, because we have plenty of clips that illustrate just how vile — but popular — this material is.

Meet a woman who debated Charlie Kirk

Erin, who goes by the online name Straighterade, has been on “Whatever” multiple times. She thinks the show is awful, but wants to be in the room to push back on the misleading things Brian and his right-wing guests say.

She spoke on video with me about her experiences for “Standing Room Only.” Yes, she debated Charlie Kirk (and won, in my opinion). In this clip, she talks about the experience of filming the show — and the time the host kicked her off for standing up for herself.
